How to find us: Directions: From I-29 / Hwy 212 exit, take Hwy 212 west 2 miles to the Hwy 20 T-intersection.
Turn north / right on Hwy 20, go approx. 1 mile north and you will see Bramble Park Zoo on the east / right side.
Directly across from Bramble Park Zoo is Hurkes Implement, a tractor dealership. Turn west / left at Hurkes Implement, go 3 blocks.
We are on the north side of the road. Just look for the red, yellow and blue doghouses.

A little about us: We are an open intake shelter, accepting any animal that comes to our door. We service the needs of the Watertown area, as well as Rural South Dakota and Minnesota. We employ two full time staff. Donna Rapinchuk has been with us for 10 years and is the Manager. Amber Kennedy has been here for 6 years and and is the Assistant Manager. We are run by an Board of Directors and maintain our 5013C Status. Larry Houck serves as the Boards President.
We accept volunteers, but do request that children are at least 8 years of age and limit their time to three hours a day.
We have eighteen dog kennels and forty cat cages to house animals that arrive at our door, whether they are surrendered by their owners, found as strays, or brought in by the city as Animal Controls. Hold Policy: We hold will hold a dog for 24 hours, for the purposes of checking with spouses, landlords, and other such situations. We cannot hold a dog for any longer time period. You must have verbal confirmation for all holds. |
Surrendering an Animal: We are an open intake shelter and accept all domestic animals brought to us. We do ask for a $25.00 surrender fee to take in cats and dogs.
Adopting an Animal: Dog Adoption - $65.00 Cat Adoption - $40.00 Unspayed/Unneutered animals qualify for a $25.00 rebate upon neutering/spaying of the animal.
